I've heard this can be done, and with gas prices the way they are i'm toying with this. I can't keep buying premium gas.

wtf? if your car takes premium gas then thats all it will take unless you swap the engine fuel system and computer. your gas tank have nothing to do with the kind of gas it takes

I don't see why you would do that though. The cost is minimal to run the difference between regular and premium.
I've never heard of aftermarket companies de-tuning cars.

Running regular doesn't do much to your car. Read up on it.
Cars are built differently now a days where back then, if you ran regular on a premium only car, you'd defintely feel the difference.

Yep, in most modern cars, the engine will adjust itself based on the level of octane you put in it. Now you don't wanna run your car on regular forever if it indeed says "premium only" but doing it for a while won't do anything to it.
The costs and labor associated with switching a fuel system (is this even possible?) would completely negate any savings you would get by using regular over premium.

In DR the locals convert the cars to use propane gas, I know dangerous but they all do it and take the risk.
