Yes I am a black dude and I'd rather use my rower then run. It gives you an intense cardio session and you feel it in more parts of your body. It's fun you can set up a race against other people online and proceed to get yo azz whupped but it's fun. C2 rowing >>>>>>>>>>Long Slow Distance Running.

I got a Model D didn't see the Point in spending the extra 200.
how many minutes do you do for a good (fat burning) session? i heard on the bike you need 45-50 minutes per session for a good result and that's way to boring. thinking about doing something else when i start cutting soon. need to lose about 5-10 lbs of fat.

You could row a good fast 1k and will be exhausted. It's harder then any of the other stuff. The harder you pull the harder you push the further you go. You will get a great workout. In fact I'm gettin ready to row a 10k in the next 10 minutes and do 100 situps and pushups after it. That should take me about 50 minutes.
You can burn upwards of 800 caloriers in an hour rowing. I never go by the calories burned on the machine it isn't about nothing. It's just a statistic of work vs time doesn't mean you are really burning calories just gives you something to use as a measurement I'd rather use time and how I feel.
don't you get bored rowing for 50 mins though? i just got back from the gym and did 3k meters in 15 minutes. more then that is pushing it for me.
