View Full Version : What are the best produced albums, in your opinion?

Forget the artist for a moment, they're irrelevant for this discussion. We're just going to focus on the production. Which albums do you feel have the best production? Whether it be hot beats, the sound is crisp, whatever you think makes up good production.

This thread would like to hear from you.

One of the best sounding album in my opinion was the N*E*R*D - ...In Search Of album. That shyt sounded so damn crisp.

In terms of production I'd say OB4CL is one of my favorite produced albums. 50's GRODT is a dope produced album also. Oh, and Theivery Corporation's "The Mirror Conspiracy" is still SOLID front to back (not hip-hop though - it's more like electronica meets chill vibes).

Oh, and I can't forget Midnight Marauders.

I agree with N.E.R.D. - "In Search of... " I love that album. I'm glad they went back and re-recorded it with live instruments, made it sound so much better.

A few others off the top of my head...

Freeway - "Philadelphia Freeway" and Memphis Bleek - "M.A.D.E."...
with Just Blaze handling much of the production on both of these albums, you can't go wrong. Fire beats throughout both of these.

Another one is Foreign Exchange - "Connected"...the production has a very fresh and cohesive feel throughout the whole album. Great to just relax and vibe to.

Justin Timberlake - "FutureSex/LoveSounds"...I don't care if it's a pop album, Timbaland and Danja absolutely killed the production on this album. Sh!t is bananas.

lily allen - alright stillYeah, you right about that Jeezy. I copped that album to do some research (trying to get a placement) and loved like 75% of the beats. But overall the lp is VERY solid in terms of production.

Yeah, you can't sleep on that Amy album either.

I was feelin that Lilly Allen single (the one where she had the video for - where she has her boys trash her exes apartment). That song was hot. I might need to check for the rest of this album.

Both of Jeezys Albums

Both of Ross' Albums - That song the Life on Trilla is one of my favorite beats of all time now. Whoever made that is a muh****in beast for the
way that brass changed up all throughout the beat...

Jays Blueprint & American Gangster Albums...

Webbie's Savage Life (Yeah the first one)

Freeway - Philadelphia Freeway is probably my favorite all time album as far as production goes though...I just loved that album.

State Props albums are fire as well, but I like Vol 2 better.

Lupe's production is among the best in the biz though IMO. That beat for The Emperors Soundtrack is

If you wanna go into sound quality and production I think
Jay-Z - Dynasty Album, Blueprint 2 had solid production and the mixes were incredibly crisp.

Ice Cube - Amerikkkas Most Wanted Album has to be my favorite best album of all time ever!! The Bomb Squad were some of the illest producers and they knew how to flip a sample

N.E.R.D - Fly or Die is an all time favorite of mines, production and mixing was clean

ColdPlay - A Rush of Blood to the Head is an all time classic as well

and last but not least, I dont kno if any of yall are aware of Puff Daddy and the family The Saga Continues album???? OMG!!! The crispiness in that album?? Unbelievable!!! Bad Boy to me always were on point wit their mixes..

Doggystyle,the infamous,ob4cl,any Soul Assassins,or Dre record(most gang starr).

GZAs beat selections always onpoint too.

I don't listen to too many new albums I'll be real but Jeezys got lotsa hot beats for his projects. I freestyle over them or bang the instrumentals at shows alot 50's beats too he's got a good team scavengin beats for him thats for sure.

I can't front, that's the first album that came to my mind when I saw this thread (as far as recent albums go). You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't let that one ride all the way through at least once.:headphone
Another recent album where the production was  was Kanye's 2nd album (Late Registration...whichever one he worked with Jon Brion on). Some of those tracks were absolutely amazing.

The Documentary...probably one of the most expensive sounding albums ever

Blueprint...Just Blaze, Kanye, Bink..........

Babyshambles - Down In Albion..everything sounds so live..truly one of a kind album

Pharcyde - Labcab

Rich Boy - Minus 2 songs that album was a huge surprise, I still play it to this day

Cuban Linx/Iron Man/36 Chambers...come on man, every hiphop head has to have these in their list

Any of Kanye's albums..but truth be told I have never listened to College Dropout :gag:

Ice T - Original Gangster.........sick underrated album

Amy Winehouse - Frank..Salaam Remi did his thing on this one

Prodigy & ALC - Return of the Mac.....should have won the grammy last year for best rap album..this is the definition right here

UGK- Ridin Dirty

that album is one of the reasons I started to make tracks. To date I've heard very few albums mixed w/ such clarity and attention to detail. I could sit back and think of some more, but that's A1 off the dome I could come up with.
