I got me a C2 rower on the way from

http://www.concept2.com/us/products/indoorrowers/d_home.asp?bhcp=1

It cost me about 880 but I think it was a good investment as I hate running and like rowing plus when I get to Germany I will likely look to start working out at home more.

20-30 minutes of rowing 4-5 days a week will be killer.

I only think really heavy people or people with knee or tendon damage should use the elliptical or stair climber. If you are in the gym check out the treadmill or the bike.

I belive in HIIT training more so then long slow distance and resistance training. LSD cardio is over rated your body burns more fat over the course of the day if you ratched up the intensity. Circuit Training imho is best for fat loss.

But you can supplement cheap things such as

Jumping rope
Running
Treadmill
Air Squats
Burpees
Sprints

These are all exercises that you don't actually need a gym for.

you are like me. I only exercise 4 days a week total. m-th are my days. for cardio, when its cold, I run the treadmill for 3 miles. however long that takes. usually for me its between 24:30 and 25:00. and when it gets warm, I run 16 laps on the track outside. the track isn't 400m, I believe its like 300m. so I do that instead, and I still ride my bike to work 4 times a week as well. so thats bout 3 miles running, and 15 miles a day biking.

I am trying to gain (currently 175lbs., goal of 195lbs.). What is a good cardio routine that will not cause me to loose weight?. I ran track years ago, but since I do not run competitively I do not train with that intensity.

If you're trying to gain weight, I wouldnt really run at all. If you're just doing it for cardiovascular health, then I would stick to 2 days a week. You can keep your intensity high. Try HIIT. Dont run for more then like 6-8 miles a week though, or it will be harder to gain weight.

If you do run more, just offset it with more calories.

Yes it is. But it is optimal if you do cardio early then lift late. But it's not a must. But always try to life before cardio unless you are doing circuit training.

its best to run on different days then you lift, because you dont want the intensity of one to take away from the other. if you have to do them same day, then run in the morning and lift in the evening.

if its unavoidable...you can run before you lift as long as you dont do anything too intense. you want to save your intensity for the weights.

if you want to run after you lift, you need to put something in your belly before you start running like a protein shake and a cereal bar. Running when glycerin levels are low (like after a workout) will cause your body to use muscle for energy, which would be counter productive.

You know what. Do whatever works for you. I have just been looking over things from fitness and it's one thing that remains the same.

Some things work better for some then they do for others. If you have gains running before working out by all means keep doing it. Just do what you like to do until you want to do a specific program like gaining strength or increasing flexibilty then look for something special.

I think all of you need to use a C2 rower at the gym and measure that form of cardio against anything else. I have to say it is harder on me then running in fact it has helped me improve my running despite hardly running for some reason.

Yeah My gym didn't either I bought me my own. And yes spinning has chicks but didn't you discuss this in highschool. Chicks don't dig guy's on the cheerleading team with them. Go and stare at the chicks like the rest of us do.

All of your first goals should be in the kitchen finding a healthy diet that you will be able to stick to for ther rest of your life. Once you get your diet going good start by being more active. I don't think you should be running to much impact on your joints. Start out by just walking on a treadmill or riding a bike or getting on the elliptical for 45-60 minutes. Don't really worry to much about lifting weights until you start seeing that the cardio is getting easier.

Try to tighten up your diet.http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/par53.htm....That should get you started.

As far as workout. Get to know your strengths and weaknesses. Start with cardio. Treadmill or elipetikal for atleast 30 mins to begin. I started with the treadmill pre sets 1 through 4. I just worked my way up every week. Add a few minutes every week. Try to do a session in the morning and one at night if possible. Fukk it, try 3 days the first week and 5 two weeks later. And try to stick to 5 then after.

Weight training...http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm......After a week of your cardio routine, start doing 2 sets per muscle group at 12 reps each. Don't go too heavy but keep a good amount that strains a bit. Add 5 pounds to each workout every week.

That should get you started.Once you get used to it, start to tweak it. As your body strenghthens start pushing it harder in all areas.

Good Luck

Get a Forman grill. Get some chicken breats. Get Some Gortmans frozen fish (non-breaded), frozen veggies, eggs (boil for snacks), salad mix and whole grain rice. Lean steak is cool too.

Keep snacks. Nuts, veggies, turkey jerky and a Snicker if needed.

Be easy on sugar, carbs, fat and bullsheit. Keep a cheat day on the weekend.

As far as supplements, multi vitamins and extra fiber is good.
