Man, why do people keep comparing these two artists? They're both kings and GOATS in their own right, but also two totally different types of emcees. Jay is the flossy, hustla type like Biggie, and Nas is the revolutionary, conscious, sometimes contradictary rapper like 2pac. If anything, Jay should be compared to Biggie, and Nas to Pac. Those would be more accurate comparisons.

i prefer jay, EVER SO SLIGHTLY, that in reality i can only pick one or the other if i was MADE to

they are yin/yang, what one does well, the other is exceptional at, their catalogs are thorough, their skill sets are top notch...so for me, the decider comes down to what i feel is a small gap between the technical abilities between jay and nas (see hovi baby, can i live)

there is also the same size gap, between jay and nas' conceptually (see rewind, i gave you power)...so what do i choose?

to put it in perspective, the first rapper i ever idolized was LL cool J, lyrical beast, but also a well rounded superstar...i've always liked cats that could do it all, jay is a bit more versatile than nas IMO

jay-z introduced me to rap, and big pimpin is a phrase used by urban kids and older white cats when they're criticizing hip-hop. jay-z has notoriety nas doesn't. jay-z also makes solid albums whether its his albums or artist's albums he touches. but god's son has dropped some of the hottest verses I've ever heard.
