Arctic Monkeys/ Bloc Party hype machine - what were "the" bands of 07 and 08?

It might not be a worldwide thing but Cut Copy are getting a lot of hype around here for the album they just dropped.

As far as hype goes, last year it was the Klaxons I think, and this year it's definitely Vampire Weekend. Doesn't exactly mean there the most talented bands of course, it's a mix of look, timing, luck, and a decent single.

Klaxons never really took off in the way that the Arctic Monkeys did.

2008 will probably be Vampire Weekend's year. Even though some of the sheen that the band featured is starting to wear off--which is to be expected.

Definitely Vampire Weekend. I havent listened to anything by them in probably a month or two now, but I enjoyed the album when I first got it.
