I don't see why the two can't co-exist. I have every type of hip hop in my collection. From an underground artist like Immortal Technique to an commercial group like OutKast it depends on what I feel like hearing that day. Most of the time I listen to guys like Nas, Black THought, Common, Talib, Pharaohe Monch, Lupe, etc.. over the more commercial stuff.

I definitely need a balance though.

Yeah I did like that album when it came out but after his whole 19 track album with nearly every song having half the song ****ting on ja rule who everyone hates, he is a joke, not to mention that album i'm sure was mostly produced by dre and em, which isn't that hard to sell a multi-platinum album when dre and em produce most of it. Not to mention if you don't think Quality is a historic album then your obviously a joke to hip hop and Kweli is going to retire a legend. Hip Hop isn't all about money, the **** has to sound good in order to sell.
