I listened to the originals
For one, Bad Boys is a much better track than that "Original" joint.
Two, DMX didn't produce the beat himself did he? Exactly, producers sample beats, thats just what they do. Cam spit over the Taxi theme, does that mean he stole from the show Taxi? Should we expose him too? I do see some similarities in the chorus, but its more of a "you made it a hot line, I made it a hot song" thing.
Three, Candy Bar = Keith Murrays biggest hit? :gag: The beat was reedited, and sold to him. How is that stealing? Besides, nobody cared about Kieth Murray, sh!t wasnt the 90's anymore.
this aint stealing. stealing is what timbaland does because he doesnt give credit to the originals.
if you really think they were stealing than you are an idiot for not knowing that rap music in general is based on sampling and remixing.

Barrington Levy does all that "skeedily di wooooaaaa" type **** on almost every one of his own songs, it's basically his signature sound, that's like getting Too Short to say BIIIIIIIIITCH! on a track. if DMX stole Get At Me Dog from Kardinal then Kardinal stole it from EPMD. (i haven't listened to them because i'm at work i'm going on info tat it's mainly the beat that cats are saying has been stolen)

oh nice to know u notice some similarities...along with the exact beat
I pointed that out when I asked if DMX produced the track, which of course he didnt. Rappers don't make beats, except for a select few. Rappers purchase beats, and rappers...RAP. DMX rapping to a similar beat doesn't mean he stole, it means he purchased a similar beat and rapped over it.

:laugh::laugh: cuz been doing that "skiddly diddly" type sh!t. Where have you been? He has a song with Foxy Brown doing that same sh!t, I guess she stole from dude to huh? I just exposed another one of us

REEEEAAACHIN'
Especially on the Rascalz/DMX sh*t. It's a SAMPLE, which NOBODY owns except for the muhfukkas who own the original song. Also, if you wanna break it down to who sampled it first, I recall BOTH of those songs AND a Mase joint that used the same sample coming out all around the same time (late-'97). And if you wanna be real, NEITHER of them were the first to use that sample. To my knowledge, it was EPMD with "Get The Bozack" in '89.
As for the Shyne joint- homie above already got it on the Barrington Levy point, so that issue's pretty much dead. And as for the sample? Let's just say that's FAR from the first time that's been used.

i own several Barrington Levy albums, he does that woooooaaaa **** a lt in his songs, only difference is he's singing in the song so he can't do it thru the verses like he does on Bad Boyz but in the intros etc he does a lot of that stuff.

04-22-08, 03:27 AM
ok i just checked the Razcals one which supposedly completely rips off Bad Boyz.
1. the beat is nowhere near similar
2. Barrington is singing a chrous from one of his old songs at the start & that's not in Bad Boyz
3. like i said before all that skidelly di doo woooooaaaaa shyt is Barrington's signiature sound, he does it in his own songs so even if Puff said "do something like you did in that Rascal song" it's not ripping off Kardinal because Barrington already does that in his own songs & dudes been singing since the 70s

Man what are you talking about. Krs was doing ragga riddims back in '87 and was doing joints with shabba ranks, q-tip with ninjaman, and special ed had a reggae joint on his second album in 1990 called "See it Ya" which I loved.
Barrington Levy had the hit called "Here I come" which was the joint in the 90's and being that shyne was from flatbush, specifically east flatbush, you can understand why he did it. Flatbush is basically the west indies of NYC. In the 90's reggae and rocker was HEAVY in flatbush and bigger than rap music.
I'm not trying to play you but you got it wrong. Also like the other poster stated, EPMD was the first to use that sample and made it widely known not DMX. It was "Get the bozack". Shizzam.

First, let me fix my mistake q-tip worked with tiger not ninjaman.
Second, krs and q-tip were mainstream artist and shabba ranks was official so what do you mean by pure reggae artist and mainstream?.
Those were just who I first thought of. You can't forget heavy d and supercat.
Barrington Levy is known for that chat, so it's not just a one record thing. You're just reaching.
As far as Keith Murray and tha rascalz, that was the producers fault for giving out the beat because keith paid more and released it in the states. So blame the producer not the rapper.
Believe what you want man but it's wrong.

He had the "deport them" jam which was big in the clubs and still is and I remember when he used to rock with Mr.Vegas in the late 90's.

And Uk was doing Reggae/Hip Hop since back in the mid 98's check Daddy Freddy & Asher D's "Ragamuffun Hip Hop' Album from 1987

#3...i couldnt wait for someone to bring up Biggies debut and act like thats where it started....HOW IN THE FUKK is that the same??? a reggae artist featuring a RAPPER....as opposed to a rap star makin a commercial hit with a reggae artist....and if the TREND started in 93...then why didnt it pop up for another 10 yrs??? Wanna know why??? CAUSE ITS NOT THE SAME...WE STARTED IT, and it POPPED RIGHT AWAY

 This is damn near depressing... if you think hip-hop artists featuring reggae artists on their sh*t just started in the late-90s when the Canada niqqas were doin' it, you're far, far behind. Them niqqas were either ahead of the second loop or WAY behind the first loop. Cause rappers were doin' the reggae sh*t on the regular during the early 90s, and that kinda came to a close around '94/'95. Then it started to pick up again in the early part of this decade with the Shyne joint and some others that followed. Do the history.
THUGECATION.

There is rap on it so its rap - no you can argue its not Hip Hop but you said rap.
You said Barrington Levy, who you obviuosly have no clue about wasnt on any rap tracks.
And that track was huge ive heard everyone from Afrika Bambaataa to DJ Shadow to Jazzy Jeff play that track. But i guess your the authority. Dont be mad
