that looks like an interesting read. I love sci-fi/fantasy books. My favorite series has to be the wheel of time series though.

I think I should. But, Im gonna research (http://www.sfsite.com/01b/ns96.htm)some info (http://www.infinityplus.co.uk/nonfiction/claw.htm)about it and start reading this one, because I don't have too much time in my hands right now.

Didn't the guy die before he could finish the series?

I only read the first 2 or 3, but then I realized that it wasn't going to ever end... so I stopped.

did he???! If so, I'm pissed. I finished the most recent one in high school (I think it was A Crown of Swords..not sure, it's been so long and I'm too lazy to google it :guilty:) and I was wondering what was taking so long for a new one to come out. They should at least publish his notes or something so we can at least know the direction he was heading with the series.

edit: knife of dreams is the last book I've read in the series

fiction is a polution of the mind. there are some intelligent exceptions though; notably the classics you read in school.

most of the nonfiction I've come across has been really dry and slow reading, can you recommend any good reads?

I like books that discuss spirituality or challenge me to look at things from a different perspective.

Like when I went to see my dad recently, I stole one of his books, Is God A White Racist by William Jones.

Ok here's a few good ones that will make you think a little
God is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens (good case against God
In Defense of Internment by Michelle Malkin (if you can stand to read the argument :gag:)
Mein Kampf - Adolf Hitler (hearing his side of things is really interesting)
People's History of the United States - Howard Zinn (a look at AMerica's history from the blacks and womens perspective)

i'll get back with more later

My A.P. American History teacher told my class it was full of lies and I literally had this look on my face:

I'd like to see the argument for that. That book is painfully researched.

The argument was "I have a feeling he doesn't like America much."

So he has an agenda. That's ridiculous.

So providing a forum for the slave, the woman dealing with forced pregnancy and maritial rape, the native american being slaughtered, the working class person living in a shack, the Chinese railroad worker, etc is anti-Americanism?

If so, **** America, then.

Yeah... I mean he's a liberal and an okay guy, but sometimes I doubt his politics. I got into a 30 minute debate with him about left-wing sectarianism and the justification of the Bolshevik Revolution as well as Lenin's hanging orders. His whole argument was lame because he was using what he believed as fact (like with a Christian "Homosexuality is wrong because the bible said so!") and the whole class was on some " what you talkin about?"

I was gettin  and so was the teacher. He's just very americentric (if that's a word...)

I read that some other writer is going to finish the series, using the guy's notes and whatnot.
