I'm trying to gain about 30-40 lbs as fast as possible... Perhaps within 2 months or so if possible. I'll be applying for a job later this year that requires good physical condition so I'm looking some tips on building muscle mass and strength.
26 yrs old / 5'9" / 155 LBS / 6-7% body fat
Yeah I've been pretty skinny all my life, I'm the type that just can't get fat no matter how lazy I get... :hmm:
I'm planning on hitting up the gym at least 4 times a week for 2 hours/day, playing basketball once to twice a week, and adjusting my diet to help me in my goal.
First question...
I've bought these supplements... Let me know if this is good, or recommend me something if I could use more. I don't wanna get too much into supplements but I need to push myself as hard as I can for at least 2 months.
BSN Nitrix (http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bsn/nitrix.html)
Vyo-Tech 17-HD (http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/vyo/17.html) (BTW I can't fukkin sleep at night when I take this shiit... even after 2 hours of work out... Is this normal?)
Muscle Milk (http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/cs/milk.html)
Second...
What kind of diet would you recommend for stacking weight and muscle... I am a complete newb with this kind of thing. I know carb is good, so I guess pasta, bread, rice, etc are good, but what else? What's the best meat? Any fast foods thats good for what I'm trying to do? What other things other than carb do I need to look for?
Third...
What's a good exercise routine, something I can do at the gym and at home?
Thanks in advance

I can't answer all your questions but I gained about 28 LBS in like 4 months.

Basically what I did was protein shakes, I got myself a nice big tall cup and I put in 3 big scoops then added a scoop of vanilla ice cream and I filled it up using milk instead of water.

Also I ate a lot of peanut butter sandwhiches.

Dont drink any soda, substitute soda for a juice or green tea.

Eat a lot of lean meats, chicken fajitas are good and I know filet mignon steaks are expensive but that is excellent meat to gain weight with.

So....Chicken (not chicken mcnuggets either, go to your local market and get REAL chicken), Filet steaks, peanut butter sandwhiches, big cup of protein shake w/ ice cream + milk.

NO fast food man! you want to put on muscle weight not fat/gluten weight. so twinkies, greasy potato chips, doritos, mcdonalds, etc are out of the picture. eat good clean lean foods!

do push-ups, pull ups, and burpees when your at your house

Anyways This is what worked for me.......but good luck

PS: drink 2 protein shakes a day if you can. morning and evening.

Hmmmmmm.......... *ponders*

I guess I'll aim for 3 months then. Got any advice on my questions though?

Rice and Beans is a nice combo for weight gain

try to keep the rice wild or brown

oatmeal with apples/berries/banana/cinnamon. dont eat cereal because they're loaded with starch and sugars which messes up your glycemic index and won't let you properly use it as fuel for your body

I think, adding the weight is unnecessary if you add some really good strength, which can be done in 2 months time. Adding weight shouldn't be a concern, but building muscle and keeping it should be your primary goal

Still imporssible.

For someone like you, you're looking at over a year to gain 30-40 pounds of lean muscle . Then add in the fat you're bound to gain and you're lookin at like 60 pounds added. You're basically talking about a full body change.

This is a long term goal.

Oh well. Numbers don't really matter anyway, I'll just do what I gotta do. I just need some tips to maximize my effort.

Are Subway sandwiches good?

Any tips on supplements and routines?

why do you have so much interest in Fast Food? This is your second mention in 4 posts...

Is it because you don't have the possibility to eat homemade food and it's more easily available to you? or is it because you hate cooking and are lazy? Or because you don't have time to cook?

Do you still want to have a cut look to you or just put on bulk? It's hard to put on 30 to 40 pounds in such a short period of time and still be cut.

I wanna look mostly athletic and cut. I came up with that 30-40 lbs goal cuz that seems like a good weight for my height (5'9" 185-195lbs)

But like I said the numbers aren't that important. I tend to set my goals a little higher than normal to push myself harder.

185 is alot of weight for 5'9

espescially, if you wanna be athletic and cut. Just focus on your strength and eating properly and specific weight will not be an issue. Unless you are fighting
