This girl I know will be transferring jobs from Texas out here to D.C. and she'd like to get a car once she gets out here.

I can tell she's not that knowledgeable about cars because she wants to buy something brand new and I advised against it, telling her that she could get a good used one that is cheaper monthly payments, cheaper insurance, etc.

She said that she thought the Fusion was a cute car - I told her that I didn't know much about it but I do think the exterior looks nice. Plus, she's 5'9, so is the car roomy?

Those cars have improved a lot, but I wouldn't buy a Ford product.

If she can afford it, the new Accords are dope.

Tell her to don't buy a car if she's going to DC.

My sister got one. Dont listen to these SOHH cats. The Fusions have been pretty good cars. They're way cheaper than the accord or camry's.

And its plenty of room cuz its a midsize car. Its not a Focus.

Despite Ford's history the Fusion is a solid car. Its one of Consumer Report's best bets for reliabity for used cars. I think they started making it in 05. MAke no mistake... its plan as hell and looks like a rental car.

Yes, yes, Ford has and still makes makes some crappy, undesirable cars.

But speaking objectively and not just on a knee-jerk reaction to Ford or domestic makes like most people want to do, the car is more reliable than a Camry or Accord... Ford's overall brand quality with their newer makes are on par with Toyota and slightly behind Honda. Look it up, I kid you not. There have been absolutely no recalls on the car for all the years it has been out. You can't say that about the Accord and Camry for the same model years. If there's any gripe I have with the car, its the exterior design and interior- its pretty basic all around.... but the redesign is coming early next year with improved engines, including a hybrid option.

American brands are slowly but surely closing the quality gap.

Thanks for all the replies....

I've been hearing the things about Fords for years but like kemryan just said, off the top of my head, I don't know of any recalls or major problems with the Fusion.

And TBG, is there any truth to insurance companies usually give a lower rate for American cars?
