View Full Version : Murda Ma$e, Killa Cam, >> Big L..Stop Overrating
This nikka. RIP big L, but lets get serious. Son wasnt even the nicest nikka affiliated with C.O.C., He wasn't a prolific writer, on any one of his best of's you will hear him recycle 3 of them rhymes like 11 times. YOU know which ones im talking about nikka. He carried the torch from lord finesse to alot of these punch line nyggas, but in the mid to late 90s son wasnt even fukn with mase, cam, lox, nature, hov, nas, az, i could go on...

I like 'Murder' Mase, but only after he calmed that sh*t down. I heard some of those songs where dude was yellin' and rappin' all fast and tryna sound all hard- sh*t sounded somethin' awful. I ain't sayin' that style itself was awful, HE just sounded terrible doin' it.
'Killa' Cam on the other hand... that dude had it on point, especially the Clue freestyle when he rhymed over the 'B*tches Ain't Sh*t' beat. I dunno wtf happened to him, but I guess if you listen to the 'Confessions of Fire' album, you can kinda hear the seeds of what was to come.
But better than L at that particular time C.O.C. was goin' on? Nnnnnah.

Yo real talk back in the day Ma$e was that dude for real, Ma$e was a superstar he appealed to every audience and he was versatile enough to do it. Cam was ill too though, but COC days Cam was not the illest in the group, Big L usually ended with his flow, I think they all were crazy wit the flow, Big L and Blood died way too early to call them the best, Herb Mcgruff came a little later he was ill too.

No one really judges MC's by if they could beat them in a face to face battle, if thats the case then Canibus would be considered top 10. There is more to judging a rapper than raw talent.

and theres more to it also than jst picking the guy that (at most times) falls into some luck (or record label budgets) and get a huge producer to blow up that artist..
guaranteed,if Big L was still around..and had a bigger team around him,and that production to make him stand out more, hed be jst as 'big' as the others.(but personally,i DO judge on lyrical game,sorry..I dont look at songs much,or hype around a certain artist...Im into RAP for the spit game of emcees, not their discography which is mostly lame, cause they had to cater to their label for)

not me.thats all i can speak for.not me.
(ur right tho prob.,most these "fans" switch up their opinions on emcees cause of a hiatus,or a bad song,or a certain collabo,or a new label,or a "swag",or a verse,or whatever the fckk...)

what im saying its a shame big l never gotta chance to pursue his dream to the fullest, BUT i highly doubt he woulda had the success that followed for mase and cam, regardless of the pending affilitation with rocafella, etc...

(jst like pple hyping up other deceased rappers(AFTER the fact),its all a 'might have been' or 'PROBABLY was gna be' guessing game).thats what sucks about untimely deaths,u jst never ever ever know what Twists n turns would happen in their careers.it sux
(but stiLL,that 'freeestyle' on that stretch armst.show/the 2nd album stiLL kills 90% of any 'frstyles' ive heard by anyone since)

Mase career was better then cams. What u have to remember is cam blew up after he went to the roc. S.d.e and confessions was the sh!t but the album that put him over the top was come home wit me. But L was the best man. I like cam to but he aint f^ckin wit L let alone mase. IMO.....

Yalll tweakin, Big L was not just a great rapper he was a far superior freestyler to either Cam or Mase so that sorta puts him over.
