As a beat-head that started with keyboards, let me say this. Keyboards are fukking ghey as shyt now, so is all hardware.

Classic machines are great-- Moog, Dx7, tr303, MPC 3000, MPC 60, Sp 1200, etc.

however, Gigastudio is the best sampler ever made. Minimoog software emulation = just as good as the real thing.

well you could have a PC/Mac strictly dedicated to make music. it'll rarely (if ever) **** up. Of course you'd have to be an idiot to download porn/surf the web and download movies/albums on the same PC you produce on. but besides that, hardware is getting killed by software these days. At the end of the day, some people hate computers/mouses or just like the feel of not looking at a computer monitor and just hearing the sound and organizing stuff in their minds. i can respect that. but as far as performance, i see them at the very least equal. i think the only debate possible is "interface" and that's really subjective and personal taste.
