View Full Version : Prolonged Cough...

I've been sick for two months (exactly two months two days ago)... actually, it's just a persisting cold/cough that i can't seem to get rid of.
I would go to the doctor... but i don't have medicaid.
The vitamin c intake is daily, i workout 4 times a week, drink only once a week... but it seems like when the cough goes away (mildly), it finds its way back into my system.
I'm attempting to take all the necessary steps at relieving this ailment but fukk... it's frustrating as fukk and i'm blaming it on the cold weather (below average temperatures, i've lived in this cold climate all my life, but now it's affecting me like never before).
What is this a sign of and what do i do?
Antibiotics really help me?
This doesn't make sense. I'm a healthy 25 yearold male, this stuff shouldn't be so prevalent in life right now. It's as if i have the immune system of a toddler.
damn...

damn, 2 months?
i had a similar thing recently, it lasted over 2 weeks. i'd wake up in the middle of my sleep from coughing so hard. Nyquil & cough medicines didnt help. after about a week, i went back to running & working out, and crazy amounts of phlegm would come up. i was kinda worried at that point, but it gradually went away

I don't smoke.
Work from home, doubt it chemicals (but they say stuffy environments induce such simptoms, my room is mad cluttered, i gotta get outside).
Don't sleep on floor.
Do own a yorkie/pomoranian (she sleeps with me, no innerspecies).
Shortness of breath? Not really... i work out 4 times a week and this is rarely a disruptance in my performance.
Diagnosed with asthma in late 2004. I was prescribed two inhalers and never touched the treatment since. But they say there is no correlation between asthma and bronchitis.
But i've never been sick for this long for any reason (but i do get sick often). This northwest part of america's weather can be severely critical of those who aren't built for consistently cold, moist weather. I've been here all my life but still can't sustain its brutally soggy/damp/frigid 7 month seasons.
-------------------
After commencing to some nutritious research, Souly and Danny... i believe i may have chronic bronchitis.
When i exhale deeply, you can hear this wheezing noise. In addition, my phlegm/mucous game is up there as well (it's made a grave return yesterday, which prompted me to formulate this thread - i was becoming concerned).
They say that this could last from 3 months to two years.
Antibiotics are my only salvation at this point. SMH at the government having you think that their meds are the only solution. This can't be life...
There are a plethora of home remedies one can attempt to rid of this "disease". found here:
http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com/remedy/Bronchitis.html
I'll give them a sample and hopefully, they're ample.
Thanks for the heads up y'all... 'preciate it much.
Will return with remedy diagnostics and a preliminary prognosis check this weekend.
...
God Bless...

strange case
you have the symptoms of acute bronchitis(without the severe pain and shortness of breath) but you dont do the things which would induce it - which is why i think your asthma may have played a role in inducing it
dont play around with trying to treat it yourself - your lungs are very important organs - if they aren't healthy it could affect your whole physical body
see a doctor and get it properly diagnosed - if after u get a proper diagnosis and decide to treat it yourself, so be it - at least you know what to treat
and use the puffers they give you for your asthma - never know, it could go away with just using them
I've had a prolong cough like that before. I think it was just some type of virus my doctor said. Since it's a virus you can't even take antibiotics for it. He told me just to wait it out.
I think that is what you got. Wait it out and to suppress the cough use this. Worked best for me

I once had a cough for 2 years. It was just a dry cough that would come out of nowhere and last for a minute or two each time. Eventually, it just went away on its own

by the way homie, one of my best friends is Asthmatic and the doc said that him having bronchitis didn't help his case.
seriously, get it checked out. You're not a doctor, so don't play like one.

Oh, and Tic said to use your asthma inhalers. Good idea, but it would be a better idea to check the label and see if they're expired first.

I was weary about taking any more medicine. After 2 months of being intermittently doused with a discomforting ailment... i was about ready to just say fukk it (let my cough dissipate on its own, as i was sure it was a seasonal thang anyway...).
When i originally posted this days ago, the thread, my coughs were quite vehement - the ones that sound really bad by the third cough and sounds as if your throat was about ready to spew some blood action. I couldn't take it no more and resorted to some aid online.
First and foremost, i wanna display gratitude to all those who pitched in their two lincolns as it was much appreciated.
Tic, Soley, Cheer and Danny... much love.
But if it weren't for Naleg's suggestion, i would have offed myself days ago.
The day he suggested it to me, i went to the store and was immediately turned off by its price. 11.99 for a three ounce bottle. WTF?!?! But i was, yes... desperate at any attempt at relieving this fledging hindrance of mine, i bought it skeptically.
That night, i came home, tooked the recommended dosage and knocked out.
The next morning would prove to be the highlight of anything that has occurred in my life since the intial onset of my sickness.
I was 80 percent cured by the mornings end.
Yeah... that DELSYM shiit was effective off the bat. Wow.
No wonder why the woman at the cashier asked for a PHOTO ID when i purchased it... the potency of the medicinal agents was so high that the state health board REQUIRES all identification to be checked when copping this stuff (even though it was over the counter). That alone told me that this was the final stepping stone to being cured of this blasted cold.
Wonderful stuff.
With all that said, i think we can close another chapter of a successful health thread and hopefully y'all digested another important lesson on the benefits of e-advice. Sometimes, a stranger will give you the best headsup... one that could bring you greater health and superfluous amounts joy.
I'm relieved.
One.
