Back in the mid to late 90's New York held claim to this title
The late 80's to early 90's Los Angeles held this title
Now everyone in their momma raps and lives like they from Atlanta, every interview you hear, nikkaz talking about their cribs in Atlanta, they shooting all the rap videos, and recording most of the albums in Atlanta now...
So what everybody wanna be a ATLien now?

You get more for your money. A nice house in good area in the A is prolly 1/3 of what it would be up North.

This is WAY beyond Hip Hop. Atlanta is THE cool city nowadays. NYC is expensive and depressing with bad weather. I think people finally smartened up and moved down there. I'll be here for life though. I need NYC -- the good and the bad.

Well im a producer and when we went out there for the couple months i sold like 15 tracks to cats on the underground scene.. Met Boyz in Da hood, Jeezy, Slick Pulla and Toomp.. I have a better chance of getting major placements out there.. I definitely want to make the move and we will be a lil closer to the East Coast as well.. But i ain't never leaving Cali for good, love it to much .. But sh1t is getting a lil costly out here.

yea, NY got a real decent presence in 'The A', alwayz have, nikkaz from Queens, Brooklyn(especially), Harlem have been in Atlanta on the humble for years, Im talking early mid 90's
New Orleans cats who go there for the most part, dont wanna leave, I think it may fit their culture better than other cities, being Atlanta is a very eccentric city as The N.O. is as well

no, it's not "urban" at all....they don't have project brick housing projects 20 stories high....it's very rural and suburban in a lot of places actually, I even remember seeing and being on a lot of dirt roads in certain parts....a lot of the houses, even the lower income ones have a front and back yard....you can get a house there really cheap compared to other cities as well....good place for newly weds to purchase their first house or for a student to come up on some cheap apartment housing......
there are some hood areas tho, and the trap look like one or two level apartment housing areas....

not really 'urban' at all, all the big Atlanta projects like Techwood been torn down, Atlanta almost like Chicago with the projects coming down.....The hood chit or trap could be a apt. complex that *****z done 'hooded' out.
Its hard to explain b/c you can go some places in Zone 3 and the housing areas there, near ATl Metro, look like some ol country bumpkin chit, mutha****az outside playing football in the streets, and dancing(see why it went to the music), then you may go somewhere in 4th Ward, or Little 5 Points, and the urban essesence of Harlem will hit you smack in the face....
The hood chit is changing b/c they tearing down chit and sending nikkaz to 285, but Gresham Rd/Candler Rd , Bankhead Hwy, Cambellton Rd, College Park is some hood chit, best chickheadz in the world

..in ATL ? LOL, u must be talking about Marietta, or Gwinnet or some shiit, ATL's not rural by any stretch of the imagination. And I don't know where u were talking about being on a-lot of dirt roads..LOL, wtf ? This ain't Miss., but ur right about the houses being cheaper than in bigger cities such as NY or LA. And we do having brick housing projects, thats why BOWEN HOMES IS CALLED THE BRICKS. They're not 20 stories high but they're just as big, for instance Bowen Homes has almost 700 units, so go figure.
LOL @ this nigguh talking about the trap look like a one or 2 level apt housing area. wtf ? There is no certain way a trap looks, every trap is different, a nigguh could be trapping out his car check out that 'Swing My Door' by Gucci. The trap is just the place where u hustle at..

Sounds like all ATL did was put DC in the microwave, sprinkle in some country seasonings and call it a movement.
Atlantas homicide rate has went down alot and since all their rappers are "killas" i wonder if they really where running the streets and then got out of the street life to rap thus the crime rate going down
i look at stats all the time so trust me i know

Yeah I have family in ATL. Its fun as hell down there..Strip clubs and clubs period always be on point but Damn ya'll n*gga's got a gang black homo's down there. I've never seen that many in one city. Gays pretty much keep to one side of the Chicago and thats up north but them cats were every where in ATL..
My cousin lives there. She says it is nice but it is heavily over-populated. Its not a big enough city to hold that many people. She also says that she can't stand the bumper to bumper traffic.
She said she likes Houston better. Its just that ATL has a few more options as far as getting jobs in the music industry.
Other than that, she says its cool. Its great if you're in to the music thing. But, she said that there are still a couple of small areas that are mad racist, like almost on some 1960s type racist sh!t. You just have to watch yourself over there or just stay out of the area. She said that the cops are even on some racist sh!t too, so thats why its best to steer away from trouble.
I still wanna go visit though.
