seige, I just did a quick search of polyphony in wikipedia and it looks like its just referring to music with more than one melody. It doesn't seem to be referring to a specific kind of music/audio file

i FUKKIN WISH i knew Quik, i read it in an old Scratch article before Trauma came out, he was talkin bout how he still does everything on tape & **** because it sounds better & he said he was working on something to take te vocals off songs and messing with the notes, apparently he was close to it.

Sampling is still in hip-hop, it's just not as heavy in the mainstream as it used to be. Shawty lo proved that it's still viable even in the mainstream, though
