Yesterday after working out on legs I hit the treadmill. Started some sprints and all of the sudden my left calve cramped up hard. Hurt like a b*tch. My calves seem to cramp the most. Any supplement I can take for this? I'm in pretty good shape and I stretch so I need additional advice from that.

I'm just thinking I can't run during leg days.

YOU'RE PROBABLY NOT HYDRATED ENOUGH..... ALSO BANANAS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD... POTASIUM I BELIVE.

Get an I.V. and plug in while you run!

1) You're not drinking enough water. Drinking massive amounts 3 hours prior ain't gonna help you not cramp that day. Drink a lot prior to the day you're gonna workout along with the drinking on the same day you're working out. This is one of the first things they taught us in high school sports.

2) Not enough sleep

3) You stretchin enough? ;p

Water, sleep and magnesium. Make sure you consume enough magnesium (200mg-400mg should suffice).

I used to cramp up alot, my Kinesiologist recommended me to take Magnesium and it pretty much solved my sleep troubles and the cramping.

I feel much better now.

Oh yeah, you should always stretch.

I wouldn't sprint directly after a leg workout, especially if the leg workout is rigorous.

If you can sprint after a leg workout, something is wrong

I would disagree. I work out bodyparts twice a week, so I don't go to absolute failure in my workouts. For me, 10 minutes of intense sprinting are the perfect addition to a workout.
To the thread starter: don't go to failure (it's counterproductive anyway) on your lifts, and make sure your muscles recover between runs/workouts. I think this may just be a local problem, since in my case most of the muscle tension is in the torso when I run.
Best advice EVER = hit the contrast shower for 10 minutes after workouts, no pain afterwards.

you just answered your own question right there.

NEVER mix cardio with workout like that. The only exception is some cardio warmup of course, but even that can be debated.
