just saying.. his records weren't played on R&B stations at all while he was alive, people straight fronted on reggae.. ironically it was white folks who were making him a star in the states.. damn.. no respect..

Iono, we just do that to those not fitting our usual genre tastes.
See Hendrix.

He didn't get played at R&B Stations guess why he wasn't an R&B singer, black people did support him and you can't become a superstar with only black people knowing you, of course white people made him a superstar they controlled most media forms most superstars where made superstars by white people.

How old are you to even be making such a thread like this?
Ya see, if you were around in the years of Bob's career, you wouldn't of been saying this. But since, obviously, you were born in the eighties (or late seventies) and had no idea of Bob Marley's impact towards black americans and have to ask about it on a message board, this thread becomes null and void.
Why don't you talk to people that were around when Bob was alive and releasing records instead of using the music and a couple of youtube videos to go on to base your completely unfounded opinion? Cause frankly, I don't think going to this board will do anything to illicit any meaningful discusion considering the oldest people on this board are in their mid 30s and were babies when Bob Marley was alive. And people older than that just wouldn't and don't gravitate towards internet forums like these (if they're even on the internet at all.)

James Brown wasn't even being played at R&B stations for a while around that time. Part of the birth of hiphop was about live DJs playing music that (primarily) black people wanted to hear but weren't hearing on the radio.
