Little of it has any meaning or significance. Which is good if you're looking for that kind of thing in the "club" but most of you ain't seeing the inside of a club or indeed the outside of your bedrooms, so whats the use in listening to the generic meaningless noise that blocks out the worthlessness of your life?
When do you come to realise that this is actually just..........sh!t? Seriously, when do you think to yourself "what is the point of this? how many times can I listen to this guy tell me he's the best? How many times can I listen to this guy tell me he is richer than me? How many times can I listen to this guy tell me he's gonna kill someone? How many times can I listen to this guy brag about things he hasn't done?"
When do you realise that the music you are listening to isn't for you anymore and that you spent far too much of the last year or so caring about the 'swagger' of a man who is a talentless liar who is only telling you what you WANT to believe?
It's all SH!T. bullSH!T. And it 'may not be that serious' and sh!t but seriously......why bother? What is the POINT? its meaningless. nothing in this music MATTERS. NOTHING. It's vacous, worthless, childish, uncreative, regurgitated baby sick. Listen to your favorite rapper. REALLY listen. Is that it? Is that all there is? What is he REALLY saying? (nothing).
And don't tell me about the many creative underground heads like emcee cabbage patch and the Septic Phantom of the Gamma Quadrant "he's really fresh!", the music is THERE if you "TURN OFF YOUR RADIO". No he isn't. He ain't saying anything either, and if he is, I'm too damn lazy to care or even find out. Fukk him and fukk you for thinking that any 'rapper' who isn't popular is significant in any way. You guys will find out that the rapper you listen to right now that NO-ONE else does will pail into comparison in years to come. and your kids will be like "what did you listen to daddy?" and you'll be like "I listened to emcee chewyballs and a band called cosmic overture collective. They were PHAT!". And your son will just look at you with fear and loathing in his eyes and he will switch off. It will have a HUGE effect on him that his father listened to insignifcant music than no-one else cared about. It will make you look like a failure in his eyes.
So you see - YOU CAN'T WIN. unless you wake up to the fact that this 'music' is worthless. nothing good can happen to you if you continue to listen. Remember this and WAKE UP!!!

Yeah I agree with u on the last 3 or 4 years of hip hop but there is still some good sh!t out there. U might not enjoy it but I still enjoy listenin to hip hop...

nah thats taking it to far, music is an artform. Some off it should hit you harder than just entertaining you.

Seriously people need to f*cking lighten up and realize that the primary objective of musicians and rap artists is to make up a bunch of bullsh*t, entertain and sell records. Certain geeks choose to center their lives around a single artist's music or a genre aka SOHH.com but it's not really the artist OR the music's job to fill up every single void you have in your life. If you want more to life than hearing some clown reiterate fables album after album, switch off your speakers, Ipod set or whatever gadget you keep clung onto your body and switch on a TV, pick up a newspaper, go see a live game just get AWAY from it, because like it or not, IT'S NOT GOING TO CHANGE. We're all maturing and seeing things from all sorts of weird angles that's why I understand your thread. The solution to this particular problem is quite simple though.

Worried about lyrical content? Look at TV, movies, and video games. Jack Bauer is more thugged out than Uncle Murder. No Country For Old Men is more gangsta than JZs latest album.
Hip Hop matches popular culture very well. The reason Gangsta Rap dominates Hip Hop is because of middle America consuming it like mad. We get the pleasure of living with "thugs" tryna live up to the ideal, but the 'burbs bought all those GRODT discs.

i don't know if this guy is just trying to start an argument, but i agree with him somewhat. the majority of hip hop lately is soulless. some of it has to do with people trying to make POP MUSIC, and a lot has to do with untalented, uncreative people who find it really easy to make music put it out because of how easy the technology is now.
A lot of people making music would be better off if they made it for themselves, or asked themselves what they really wanted to say with music. A lot of it is hype.
But that's nothing new, and it's not limited to hip-hop

Look all I am saying is that its cool to like this music to a certain degree but it's not really a music you can have any PASSION for, and if you do have passion for it, you probably need to grow up a lil.
Anyone listening to this music passed their 12th or 13th birthday needs to evaluate.
Basically it's children's music that requires very little thought. It's the musical equivolent of duplo bricks man.
But it's thats you, thats you. Some of us need a challenge.
And don't say 'if you want a challenge i'll pick up a book'. Come on man. NONE of you are picking up any books whatsoever.

Never. Ive always realised that theres a situation where certain artists are put together and release certain music/interviews etc to give of an image that is going to sell records whereas other artists usually less focused on sales and wealth release music that is though provoking.
You just gotta sift through it find whats right for you and if you dont like none of it leave the sh1t alone.
