are you using reason 4?
if you are, make sure when create a new instrument you also click on it within the sequencer..not just the rack
check your mixer, did you new instrument track get added to your mixer? if you cant see it, flip the rack around by hitting 'tab' and you can use your mouse to phyiscally connect the cables from instrument to mixer
im using reason 4.0. Im gonna try exactly what u said. may I ask where is the sequencer? And do you use recycle?

you see the devices on the left?
mixer 1
bass
space pad
make sure when you create something new that you click on it in that sequence window to hear that device
yeah i have used recycle. you can pull in a sound file and chop it up, or allow the progrma to chop it for you. save it as a .rex file and you can open that up with the 'dr. rex' device within reason, it will lay the sample chops across your keys automatically.
Yeah i have it clicked, but it still doesnt have any sound. But its only when I try to create a new instrument. I cant even preview the sound if i have another instrument and im working on macbook with nice specs. Anymore ideas? Im already in your debt.

are you using a midi keyboard i assume? you can hear sound from the 1st instrument?
click on your mixer (in the rack)
then go to 'create' and select a THOR
when you press a key on the keyboard, do you see a light displaying on the THOR?
**hit tab, flip the rack around and make sure you have cables going from your THOR to your mixer***
i am using a midi usb keyboard.. ill try this..
It does light up when i send it thru the Thor and the back cables are going from the thor to the mixer..im perplexed
could it be becuz i wasnt inserting the mixer in the rack first?

Yeah, make sure you create a mixer first. I thought Reason 4 auto loaded up a mixer though. Also make sure your Mixer is being routed through the device at the very top (AUDIO CARD)

So when you hit a note on the thor you see a light, but no sound? and if you click to select a different patch (sound) you can't hear anything?
Click on the mixer and then create a REDRUM device, a drum kit should already be loaded - hit the keys - you hear any sound? (**note there is only about 10 drum sounds on each kit, they will default to the first 8-10 keys on the left of your keyboard)
i think the problem was that the mixer wasnt placed in first. Thanks for your help dude. If you need something holla at me at elevatedclouds on aim. If you have never heard any of my music go to http://www.myspace.com/fameusink ...enjoy!

ALWAYS put the mastering suite and mixers in first. I have Reason 4 too, and some things were easier to do in Reason 3.
