No testimonial of tempestuous journeys trod
Just calm, revealing its relative the recluse know as sleep
This autumn leaf falls to be blown around a dreamy landscape
At peace content to fall to pieces in your warm embrace
With no intent to waste your time I leave you now for slumber sublime
My normal nightly struggle ended by you who seemed to carve attention
Lulled by the beat of a heart not made of fractured stone
Reminding me of better days when cracks from within didn’t lead to my eyes
Cracks even while leaking becoming ever colder
Be glad! While with you my beast of burden can rest
Don’t be angry if I almost always drift off like a fed newborn
Know your warmth just might bring me a kiss of dawn.
